Judeocommunistanarchist(pre)poststructuralistmiddleclassguilt-conspirators Part 1.
Kicking off our new series will be a talk on Gustav Landauer – ideological founder of the Kibbutz, mystical Christian+Jewish+socialist metaphysician, glorious beard – and Erich Mühsam – poet-playwrite of aborted German revolutions, satirist of the Nazis, murdered before he could do a Bob Dylan.
Talking about the two Jews will be their English translator, Gabriel Kuhn, who Dov Neumann interviewed about his Landauer translation not too long ago. Last year alone he published his Landauer book (‘Revolution and other writings’); a study into race, gender, sexuality, and disability in golden-age pirate communities (‘Life Under the Jolly Roger: Reflections on Golden Age Piracy’); and a book on radical sobriety (‘Sober Living For the Revolution: Hardcore Punk, Straight Edge, and Radical Politics’). This year he’s got his upcoming Mühsam book (‘Liberating Society from the State and Other Writings’); a politically conscious history of football (Soccer vs. the State: Tackling Football and Radical Politics’); and translations of Klaus Viehhman’s prison writings (‘Prison Round Trip’).
